Minister Alan Dillon joins Oxfam Ireland and An Post to celebrate PostBack - donating from your doorstep – surpassing 20,000 orders

Minister of State for the Circular Economy Alan Dillon TD joined Oxfam Ireland and An Post to officially launch the PostBack donation scheme.

Since its beginning in April, PostBack has already seen over 20,000 bags ordered across Ireland, highlighting the incredible public response to this new form of donating to Oxfam Ireland. The scheme empowers people across Ireland to donate clothes and other items from the comfort of their homes for free. This helps support sustainability, reduce waste and fund Oxfam’s vital work for equality and justice worldwide.

The donated items so far have a resale value of over €205,000 in Oxfam shops in Ireland. So far, over 40,0000 kg of textiles have been diverted from landfill through PostBack donations since April. The PostBack programme saves people time, money, transport and effort and reaches those who may not have transport or live close enough to an Oxfam shop.  This service is available to all residents of the Republic of Ireland.

"PostBack is a brilliant example of how innovation can make sustainability
simple and accessible for everyone. By turning doorstep donations into a
simple way to protect our environment, PostBack makes sustainability
something everyone can do. Partnerships like this between Oxfam Ireland and An Post show what’s possible when trusted organisations work together for the common good. Every bag donated is a step toward a circular economy and a cleaner, greener Ireland."

“The future of charity donation is here. PostBack is more than a donation scheme: it’s a movement towards conscious living. It encourages people to declutter with purpose, knowing their clothes and pre-loved items will go to
making a difference in people’s lives all around the world.

“Postback allows Oxfam Ireland to fund our humanitarian aid in Gaza and
respond to emergencies as they happen. It helps to fund our longer-term
development work such as food security, climate action and women’s
empowerment in Africa.

“We’re delighted to partner with an organisation like An Post who can reach
everyone in the Republic of Ireland and who have made great strides in their drive to net zero. Together, Oxfam Ireland and An Post are making lives easier for Irish householders and helping them contribute directly to global justice. We hope with greater public awareness of Postback to make an even greater contribution."
— Jim Clarken, CEO of Oxfam Ireland
“PostBack is great example of how we can all work together for the Common Good through world-class innovation and collaboration – Oxfam, An Post and thousands of supporters making a huge difference to communities at home and across the world. Growing the Circular Economy is a priority for An Post and an important growth area for Ireland, its people and charities. We value our
partnership with Oxfam and look forward to continued strong growth with PostBack, for the benefit of all.”
— David McRedmond, CEO of An Post

The recyclable PostBack packaging reflects Oxfam Ireland’s commitment to environmental responsibility. By making it easier to donate, we’re helping people take small but powerful steps toward a more sustainable future.
