SHOP MANAGER, Galway, F/T, 40hrs per week

Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.

Being a key role in the Retail team, the Shop Manager will be responsible for the effective day to day running and management of the shop. You will be responsible for dealing with customer queries and complaints as well as overseeing product pricing and stock sourcing through donations while maximising profitability, setting/meeting sales targets, including motivating volunteers to do so.

You will also manage budgets, maintain statistical and financial records and be responsible for recruiting, training and supervising a team of volunteers.
Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, preparing promotional materials and displays and liaising with Head Office will also be required on a daily basis.

Essential criteria includes; 
  • Demonstrable experience of retail management to include:
    • Budget and sales analysis
    • Product knowledge and awareness of market trends
    • Merchandising
  • Experience of utilising social media to increase sales
  • Experience of staff management and motivating teams to achieve sales

The Role

Oxfam Ireland is looking for a Shop Manager to join our charity shop in Bray. Someone who wants to do good, work with volunteers and make their shop part of the local community.
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, supervising and motivating a team of volunteers to ensure sales targets are met and profitability is maximised. You will ensure high standards of customer service, as well as overseeing product pricing and stock sourcing through donations. You will be responsible for managing budgets while maintaining statistical and financial records and be responsible for ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, preparing promotional materials and displays and liaising with Head Office.

Our next Shop Manager will require a range of skills and experience:
  • Demonstrable experience of retail management in a related sector to include:
    • Budgets and sales analysis
    • Product knowledge and trend awareness
    • Merchandising
  • Experience of staff management and motivating teams to achieve sales
  • Communication and networking both internally and external of the business
  • Strong commercial ability and product knowledge

The Role
Working under the direction of the Shop management team, the Sales Assistant is responsible for assisting with the overall operation of the store, in conjunction with assigned daily tasks, under the supervision of the Shop Manager.
 
The Sales Assistant will assist with sales, displaying product and merchandising along with the daily maintenance of the store, ensuring the highest standards of housekeeping and customer service fully comply with Oxfam Ireland policies and procedures.

The successful candidate must have:
  • A minimum of 6 months Sales Assistant experience in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Previous experience in cash handling and stock replenishment
  • Excellent Customer Service skills, encouraging repeat custom, link selling and positively promotes the brand; and
  • Excellent communication skills and positive can-do attitude.
