Solidarity Message on the Middle East Crisis

At this time of crisis in the Middle East, Oxfam Ireland stands with our colleagues and partners after the unlawful attack on Iran by Israel and the United States, and the Iranian response.

As ever this conflict is hitting the poorest hardest with consequences being borne by people across the region, including families, forcibly displaced, communities, and most acutely by women and children.

Oxfam and our partners are already responding to meet the needs of people in Lebanon, where tens of thousands of people have been displaced. We are working with collective shelters to provide hygiene and menstrual hygiene management kits, bedding, and water, and sanitation. 

We are also closely monitoring the evolving situation across the region and assessing its impacts on civilians, frontline staff, our partners and programs and ready to respond if needs increase across the region.  

As the region stands at a perilous moment, Oxfam urgently calls on all parties to the conflict to immediately end the violence. The extent of the impact of this crisis will not be limited to the region. International leaders and the global community must mobilize every effort to prevent the destruction of lives and livelihoods of millions across the region and beyond.
