Festival Volunteers

Passionate about fighting for equality and global justice? Join our festivals team as a volunteer campaigner!

Campaigning is at the heart of everything we do at Oxfam. As a volunteer campaigner, you’ll be part of our global movement for change – joining the fight to end inequality and beat poverty, as well as ensuring the Right to Refuge for millions of people displaced around the world.

During the summer months, teams of volunteer campaigners attend some of the biggest festivals and events across the island of Ireland, highlighting Oxfam’s work to tackle the causes of poverty while inspiring people to join our movement for change.

We’re looking for volunteers that are friendly and outgoing – good communicators with excellent spoken English – people who are committed to helping build a just world without poverty. No previous experience is needed. You’ll be trained on the issues and campaign techniques by Oxfam’s experienced campaigns staff.

In return for volunteering at festivals, you’ll have lots of fun, be part of a fantastic team and know you’re doing your bit to change the world. Plus, you’ll get to some of the biggest gigs and festivals for free – our campaigners usually see the headline acts and get some free time to soak up the atmosphere.

To join our festivals team, register here as a volunteer campaigner. When the application process opens for our summer 2019 festivals team, you’ll be the first to know!

PLEASE NOTE: All volunteers who attend a festival with us must be over 18 on the day of the event. Oxfam is going to be at some of the biggest festivals across Ireland this summer, highlighting our work with refugees and people caught up in humanitarian crises while inspiring festival-goers to join our movement for change.

Right now, we are recruiting volunteers to be part of our campaigning team at these festivals.

We really rely on the support of volunteers like you to make the festival season a success. With your help we can engage the public to take action on behalf of the men, women and children who’ve been forced to flee and make a positive difference for people on the move.

Being a volunteer campaigner with Oxfam

As well as joining our festivals team, our fantastic volunteer campaigners do lots more to make change happen.

To challenge global injustice, we first need to change the rules. To do this, we influence governments and decision-makers on important issues, urging them to make decisions that benefit those living in poverty and facing crisis. However, we could not do this without our amazing network of volunteer campaigners from across the Island of Ireland.

Once you’ve signed up as a campaigner, as well as the opportunity of being on our festivals team - you’ll receive regular invitations to take part in online and offline campaign actions, Oxfam events and trainings. You decide what actions you’d like to get involved in.

Online actions include participating in Twitter storms or talking to politicians about the issues that matter. Offline actions and stunts are usually held in Dublin and Belfast and focus on the important moments we want to highlight, or before decisions or events we want to influence.
