Aisling Bea announced as the face of Oxfam Ireland’s Second Hand September 2025
Making second hand second nature.
Award-winning Irish comedian, writer, and actor Aisling Bea has been unveiled as the lead ambassador for Oxfam Ireland’s Second Hand September 2025 campaign. Known for her warmth, humour and advocacy for sustainability, Aisling is encouraging people across Ireland to join her in saying no to new clothes and yes to second hand.

This year’s campaign is about celebrating style with purpose, choosing second hand instead of fast fashion and supporting climate justice. There are now enough clothes in the world to clothe the next six generations and if you really need something new, make it something new to you and second hand.
Buying second hand extends the life of clothes an average 2.3 years and contributes to Oxfam’s work tackling poverty and inequality worldwide.
Kildare-born star Aisling Bea, who is set to embark on a major comedy tour across the UK and Ireland this autumn, is joined in some of the photos by her daughter as she is keen to that second-hand style can start from a young age.

“Anyone who knows me, knows that you will find me at my happiest upside down in a bin - a charity bin that is, having a root for second hand treasures. I am delighted to front this push to support buying pre-loved for the whole family and also to be supporting Oxfam’s wonderful work around the world.”

Now in its seventh year, Oxfam’s Second Hand September is an international movement that challenges people to shop more sustainably and reduce textile waste. Oxfam Ireland’s network of 46 shops across the island offers a treasure trove of high-quality, affordable fashion.
“We’re so happy to have Aisling Bea on board.
Every parent thinks about what sort of planet we’re leaving our children and every parent has many concerns. But even with all the demands of parenthood, shopping second hand makes environmental, fashion and financial sense.”— Trevor Anderson, Director of Trading at Oxfam Ireland.
