What is a Mass Climate Lobby Day, and why you should attend!

Thousands of people gathered in Dublin on Saturday, 15 November to demand that the Irish government deliver faster and just climate action and see an end to fossil fuel power. Everyone deserves an affordable home powered by clean energy. It was a part of a Global Day of Action during the critical COP30 talks in Belém, Brazil where people across the globe turned up in huge numbers in major cities.

We have to keep up this momentum!

That is why the Stop Climate Chaos coalition have organised a Mass Climate Lobby Day of TDs on Wednesday 3rd December, 11am to 8pm, at Buswells Hotel, Molesworth Street.

We know that people across Ireland are demanding an end to the era of fossil fuels and are already stepping up in their local communities. While the richest individuals and corporations are driving the crisis while reaping record profits, communities are fighting back at the ballot box and on the streets.

What is a Mass Lobby?

A mass lobby is when lots of people meet with their TDs on the same day to have powerful conversations on issues they care about.

At 11am on Wednesday 3rd December 2025, hundreds of people from across Ireland will come to Dublin to meet with their TD to say: we want a cleaner, safer, fairer future that breaks away from fossil fuels.

Why it is important:

The world is falling dangerously short on climate action and here in Ireland, we are off track to meet our emission reduction targets – a gap that must be closed.

In Oxfam Irelands report, Rebalancing the Scales: Confronting Carbon Inequality in Ireland, it states that Ireland richest 10% emit almost as much carbon as the bottom 50% of the population combined. It highlights that Ireland’s wealthiest households are driving breakdown through excessive, carbon-intensive consumption, while those least responsible bear the greatest burden of its impacts. We need the Irish government to take bold action to deliver climate justice at home and abroad.

It’s no secret that the fossil fuel industry wants to use its power to lock us into dirty, expensive, imported fossil fuels for decades to come. They want our politicians to put economic growth and corporate profits ahead of our health, safety, and shared future, despite the impacts of climate breakdown accelerating around the world. From droughts and wildfires to storms and floods; the people who have done the least to cause this crisis being hit the hardest.

We want a just transition towards a future where no one is left behind, and where women and disadvantaged communities, who have so far been excluded from the benefits of climate policies, are finally placed at the heart of change.

You don’t need to be a climate expert, or to have met your TD before, or have even spoken about climate. This is an opportunity to come together to tell our TDs directly that we need a healthier, safer and fairer future for generations to come around the world.

This is a pivotal moment, with a new Climate Action Plan due by the end of the year, and radical, decisive measures needed to make political commitments a reality. We’re asking our TDs to use all available opportunities, and act with urgency to help us build a fairer, more resilient future for everybody.

Together we are far more powerful than the fossil fuel industry. Together we will build an unstoppable climate justice movement.

By joining us on December 3rd from 11am to 8pm at Buswells Hotel you can make sure your local TD’s hear what YOU have to say.
