Shumati Rani, age 46, and her husband Dinesh Chandra Barman, age 62, are the only Hindu family living in Golna village. Like many of their neighbours, they rely on agricultural work. In 2013 they began rearing ducks. The couple now have 34 ducks which provide them approximately 12 eggs per day. The eggs help supplement their own diets and are sold to provide an income. These earnings have allowed the couple of rent a plot of land from which they grow chillies.

As part of the programme Oxfam provides farming families with healthy, locally sourced livestock along with necessary training in how to care for them. It will also help ensure that they have the business skills and local market contacts to make their farm pay.
