Our Volunteers: Cathleen & Maura
Cathleen and Maura both work as volunteers in the Oxfam Fundraising Department. Cathleen works two days a week and has done so for about six years. Maura works one day a week and started three years ago.
Cathleen records the standing orders donations for monthly returns and enjoys balancing the figures. Maura, on the other hand, lends a hand with whatever office work needs doing on the day. Both Cathleen and Maura, having found some years ago that they had some time to spare, decided on volunteering, out of their wish to give something back to the community and in some small way help Oxfam in their work for people in the developing world.
Both are agreed that they enjoy coming into the office, the staff are very friendly and appreciative, the work is stimulating, and the social contact is very enjoyable. They are of the opinion that a retired person should give some thought to volunteering - the rewards are many!
