The Third World RunNow in its 22nd year, Uorganisers are hoping to build on the success of previous years where participants have raised more that £120,000. This money supports the vital work of Oxfam Ireland as well as Christian Aid, Concern and Trocaire, for use in their emergency relief work and long term development work in Third World Countries.

The Third World Run 2008 takes place at The Ozone Leisure Complex, Ormeau Park , Belfast on Sunday 18th May at 3pm. There are three separate events, a 10K Run, 3K Run, and 3K ‘Family Run,' so runners and walkers of all ages and abilities can take part.

The event started in 1987 as a sequel to the Sport Aid ‘Run for the World' in 1986, inspired by Bob Geldolf and organised in towns and cities all around the world to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia .

Since then, the Belfast ‘Third World Run' has been held each year. Last year almost 600 runners and walkers entered the three Third World events, raising a total of £8000. Please consider entering this year and help us support disadvantaged communities around the world, it promises to be a really fun day out for an important cause!

For further information on taking part in the run please contact Kerri at kerri.denmark [at] oxfamireland.org or on 02890 895956.
