Dublin band busk all over Ireland for Oxfam Ireland
Oxfam Ireland is set to benefit after Dublin band Hand Attacks for Heart Shakes, got in touch when they decided to put themselves to the test through a very cool and unusual fundraiser.
On the 7th, 8th and 9th of September, band mates Paul Hosford, Ross Callaghan, Martin Cullinan and John O’Brien will visit some of Ireland’s most famous landmarks and busk to raise vital funds for Oxfam Ireland’s work.
The band, who all hail from Blanchardstown, Dublin, will begin their journey visiting The Spire on O’Connell Street, Dublin and will travel on to busk at places such as the West link toll plaza, Emo Court, Co. Laois, the Rock of Cashel and The Shandon Bells, Co. Cork. At this point they’ll check in to a hostel for some well-deserved sleep. The band will then start out early on Saturday morning, heading to Kinsale town, the Tralee Windmill, Co. Kerry, O’Connell Street, Co. Limerick, the Cliffs of Moher, and then on to Eyre Square where we’re sure a night out in Galway will finish in another hostel so that their batteries can be recharged.
The final day of the landmark busking will see the lads from Hand Attacks for Heart Shakes hit Athlone town, Belvedere House Mullingar, the Hill of Tara before rolling back into Dublin for a gig at...tbc.
The band have decided to put themselves through this frantic, fun and worthwhile challenge to raise as much money as they can for Oxfam Ireland’s work overseas with poor communities. Oxfam Ireland aims to provide long-term support to people in Africa in a way that will help them to lift themselves out of poverty. The band are really looking forward to this test but they need everybody to get out there and support them along the way, so keep an eye out.
This October, Hand Attacks for Heart Shakes are also involved with Oxfam Ireland’s Oxjam 2007, a month-long music festival around Ireland. The band have organised their very own Oxjam gig on the 23rd of October, in the Draiocht Theatre, Blanchardstown where they and special guests will perform from 6.30pm onwards. Tickets cost €8. Oxfam Ireland needs all music lovers to get involved to make Oxjam 2007 a success. To find out more visit www.oxfamireland.org/oxjam.
“Why Oxjam? Well it’s the same idea as music - there’s the feeling that we can really make a difference with what we’re doing and change lives of people we’ll never meet, and that’s a really cool idea for us”, enthused Hand Attacks for Heart Shakes bassist Paul Hosford.
