The Irish government has publicly announced that it supports an Arms Trade Treaty. Following the presentation of the 10,000 Irish faces who joined the Control Arms Million Faces petition in support of an Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), the Irish government publicly committed its support. Ireland joins 54 other countries who support the ATT. Dermot Ahern, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, said in June: "Ireland, with its EU partners, fully supports the negotiation of such a Treaty."

Well done to all of you who played a part in this campaign victory.

In the UK, a team of intrepid Control Arms campaigners have been busy making their way around London, carrying portable video screens to help them in their task of visiting the embassies of Brazil, India, Nigeria, Pakistan and South Africa to put pressure on their governments to support a strong Arms Trade Treaty.

This Autumn the Control Arms campaign is pushing for the UN General Assembly to Trade Treaty. A number of countries have proposed a resolution calling for this to happen.

For more information on the road to an ATT and to take action to strengthen the resolution see www.controlarms.org
