OXFAM IRELAND CATCHES
FESTIVAL FEVER
Summer time is always a busy season for Oxfam Ireland campaigners and this year was no exception. From gigs to festivals, we were out and about spreading the Make Trade Fair message and other campaigns news to thousands of music lovers.

OXYGEN
AND LOTS OF WATER

The season kicked off with the now well-established Oxegen festival in County Kildare. Our small but motivated team of campaigners braved the storm that later hit the festival. The result was impressive with several hundreds of festival-goers signing up to the BIG Noise petition to Make Trade Fair and several new recruits as campaigners.

GARY LIGHTBODY SIGNS THE BIG NOISE AT TENNENT'S VITAL

Oxfam Ireland was delighted to be offered the opportunity to run the only campaigns stand at Belfast's two-day rock festival, Tennents Vital 2006. The festival, held in the Botanic Gardens in south Belfast, featured some of the biggest acts in music, including Northern Ireland's Snow Patrol and Leeds' band Kaiser Chiefs.

Despite the weather see-sawing from glorious sunshine to torrential downpours, the spirits of the campaign volunteers were not dampened and more than 600 festival-goers joined the BIG Noise petition to Make Trade Fair. Snow Patrol frontman, Gary Lightbody and Belfast songwriter Peter Wilson (AKA Duke Special) also lent their support to the campaign backstage.
