Oxfambooks announces its Poems for 2009 competition

May 2008

Poetry CompetitionThe Oxfambooks poetry calendar competition swings into life for it's fourth year.

We are looking for six new poets to be published along side our six guest poets.

This year our guest poets are Moya Cannon, Patrick Deeley, Eamon Grennan, Vona Groarke, Dave Lordan and Eilean, Ni Chuileanain. The competition judge is Patrick Deeley.

Oxfambooks are also delighted to announce that this year's calendar will contain twelve specially commissioned art works by artists represented by the Blue Leaf Gallery.

Last year's calendar sales raised over €9,000 for Oxfam Ireland 's work overseas. Hopefully this year's calendar will do even better and sell even more copies, and your poem could be part of it.

Entries cost €5 per poem and the closing date for entries is July 15th 2008. You can download an application form and a copy of the rules here, or send an SAE to Oxfambooks, 23 Parliament St. , Dublin 2.
