New Oxfambooks is another success story

Oxfam Ireland has good news for all lovers of literature with the opening of a second dedicated Oxfambooks store in Belfast, this time on the busy hub of Botanic Avenue.
The opening ceremony of the new shop was performed this morning (Monday June 2nd) by South Belfast MLA Anna Lo and follows on from the fantastic success of the recently opened Oxfambooks in Rosemary Street.
Chris Scott, shop manager of the new Oxfambooks in Botanic Avenue , says: “ The new shop is Oxfam's biggest standalone bookshop in Ireland. We will stock an extensive range of titles across the whole range of categories – modern best sellers, contemporary fiction, classics, horror, thrillers, a children's section, biographies, reference books and more – as well as also stocking music CDs, vinyl and DVDs.”
Anna Lo MLA commented: “ This new dedicated bookshop marks another chapter in the success story of Oxfam Ireland. Oxfam's continuing expansion in a depressed retail environment bucks the trend, and it is all down to the wonderful support of the local community that Oxfam can forge ahead in this way to help raise funds for its vital work overseas.”

As shop manager Chris Scott says, “You can help us to fight poverty worldwide in 3 ways – by shopping with us, by donating or by volunteering. Any books in good condition will help us to help others, so please donate your quality books once you have finished reading them. This is also National Volunteer Week, and appropriately Oxfambooks also requires shop volunteers who can offer their time and energy. If you have an interest in books, ideally with an academic background, we would love to hear from you. ”
If you want to become an Oxfam Volunteer, call Chris on 028 9033 3040 or simply ask in-store for details. You can visit the new Oxfambooks shop at 33 Botanic Avenue, Belfast, BT7 1JG .
