Oxfam Omagh is moving on up!
April 2008
Oxfam Ireland 's shop in Omagh is moving on up! Six years since the move to Campsie, April 11th sees the Oxfam shop relocating to its new premises in the town centre at 46-48 Market Street . And to celebrate the event, you are all invited to a special opening day party.
The fun will commence at 10.30am on Friday April 11th, when the opening ceremony will be performed by the Manager of Marks and Spencer's Omagh shop, Mr Brian Quinn, who has already worked closely with Oxfam Ireland on the M&S and Oxfam Clothes Exchange initiative.
Noel McCarter, Manager of Oxfam Ireland 's Omagh shop, said: “Oxfam is delighted to be back where it belongs, right at the hub of the community in the centre of Omagh, following the redevelopment there. This is a move we have been eager to make for a long time now and we have been actively searching for a suitable site for more than two years.
“It's a vote of confidence from the people of Omagh that we have now been able to make the move and I'm sure we will be able to count on their continued support to help in the fight against poverty and injustice in the developing world”, Mr McCarter added.
If you would like to play a part, you could become a volunteer to help out in the Omagh shop or you could donate your unwanted gear. As Oxfam prides itself in providing its customers with top quality clothing and accessories, we can only accept donations of stock that is saleable; otherwise it actually costs us money to get rid of items that are unsuitable for sale. As well as receiving donated goods such as clothing (the Omagh shop boasts a specialist Vintage department), fashion accessories, bric-a-brac, household goods, books and music, Oxfam also stocks small occasional furniture.
So why not spring clean for Oxfam – simply ClearURGear and then pop along with your donation to the Omagh shop party on Friday 11th April. See you there!
