Looking for quality and unique vintage clothing? Trawled the high street and internet for that perfect wedding dress to no a vail? Then look no further than the new-look Oxfam shop on Georges Street , Dublin , where the refitted store boasts more stock than ever before comprising of music, vintage and bridal! As well as the usual good quality donated clothes and accessories.

Shop Manager Solene Rapinel is overjoyed with her refurbished premises and is keen for anyone travelling into Georges Street centre to pop in and discover not only a bargain but also a lot more about the overseas work the shop helps to fund.

Solene said: “Oxfam Ireland 's work in providing humanitarian aid whenever there is a disaster throughout the world is known by everyone. However, Oxfam Ireland also campaigns for governments and global institutions to Make Trade Fair, for the reduction of debt owed by developing countries, as well as work on HIV and AIDS. This is a win/win situation – the customer gets fashionable clothing at a bargain price while helping to change the life of someone in need for the better.“

In recent years the quality of goods has improved considerably and recent finds in the Oxfam Georges Street shop includes Chloe Blouse, Armani Suits, Marni Belt and Hermer Scarves.

Trevor Anderson, Manager of Oxfam Ireland's 46 shops countrywide, said that he was “absolutely delighted” with how well the shop had turned out and paid tribute to the volunteers who had put so much effort into the re-opening and into the running of the shop down through the years. “The new-look shop should help to ensure that Oxfam Ireland contributes even more to people in the developing world”, Mr. Anderson added.

Notes to Editors

The shop will continue to be run by a loyal band of local volunteers, many of whom have been with the shop since it first opened and managed by Shop Manager Solene Rapinel and deputy manager Kayoko Yanagisawa.

Also this April, Oxfam is running CLEAR UR MUSIC month: as part of its CLEAR UR GEAR initiative Oxfam Ireland is asking everyone to donate their old records and CDs today. The Georges Street branch has a dedicated music section.
