Oxfam Ireland's Donated Shops
We always appreciate your generous donations. However, some items are more useful than others. Quality goods raise crucial funds for Oxfam projects, but low-quality donations actually cost us money in processing and waste charges. That's money which would otherwise be spent on saving lives.
So, please take a minute to sort your donations before bringing them to us. You may not bring everything, but in this case, less really is more.
If you are unsure about what we cannot use, please check this list:
What we can sell:
- Good quality bric a brac, cds, books, homewares, clothes, shoes etc
What we can't sell:
- secondhand underwear or socks
- torn, threadbare, stained or soiled clothing
- ripped, torn, written-on or dog-eared books
- scratched or broken records and pirated cds
- damaged broken or incomplete items of bric a brac
- broken or damaged furniture
- sofas or soft furnishing which don't have a fire resistant label (unsaleable by law)
For the year 2006, Oxfam spent €50,000/£35,000 in waste charges for disposing of low quality goods.
Reuse & Recycle with Oxfam
Bring it back to us! Recycling helps our world in so many ways. Let Oxfam turn your unwanted goods in to cash, which will then be used to fight poverty.
Notes & Announcements
Do you live near the Dundrum shop? If you are planning to go there with donations, please call first. The Dundrum shop has a tiny storeroom and is often full to capacity. We really appreciate your donations and don't want you to make a wasted trip...and if Dundrum cannot accept your goods, another Oxfam shop will be happy to receive them.
