Our 'Born Again' refurbished computers have been fully restored to the highest standards and all come with a 12 month warranty. There's no reason for you to buy brand new anymore - you can get the same quality of product at a fraction of the cost.
Rather than being sold a specific make or model, the range is divided into three different specs. When selecting your spec, you're gauranteed to receive a computer of the spec you chose (or higher) instead of a specific model or make. However, you can be assured that the brand and quality of the computer you receive will be of the highest quality - among the brands we sell are Dell, Hewlett Packard and Toshiba.
So where do Oxfam computers come from and how are they refurbished?
All our desktops and laptops were once business computers used by companies across Ireland and the UK. Business computers are typically more robust than consumer models.
When companies upgrade their computers (usually every 2 to 3 years), many pass on their replaced computers to be given a new lease of life. That’s where we come in!
Hard drives are fully erased or replaced and a brand new operating system is installed. The computer is then fully tested to ensure it performs the same as when new.
Of course, because these computers have all been used in their previous life, it’s normal to see some signs of wear and tear such as minor cosmetic damage, including a few scrapes on the casing. But it what’s inside that counts – your Oxfam desktop or laptop will always perform like a brand new computer.
Lastly, every computer that's bought contributes to our work to end poverty. So they really are good computers.
