As the violence in Gaza continues, I am deeply concerned about the escalation of hostilities and I am worried for the safety of innocent civilians. Hundreds of lives have already been lost and without the immediate access of humanitarian supplies and support, thousands more are at risk. This violence must stop and both sides must commit to immediate, comprehensive and unconditional ceasefire. I welcome the recent statement by the Minister for Foreign Affairs calling for an immediate end to the attacks from both sides and his strong condemnation of the loss of civilian life. Before this situation escalates further, I urge you to: - Continue to call for an immediate and complete ceasefire and an end to the current fighting. - Continue to push for immediate and unhindered access to and from Gaza for humanitarian supplies and workers. - Use your influence at the EU to ensure that a comprehensive and lasting solution to this conflict is found.
