Oxfam Ireland's mountainous climb starts with Gala Ball

 Oxfam Ireland Press Release
24 August 2007

Oxfam Ireland is truly giving itself a mountain to climb by organising a Gala Ball at the Europa Hotel, Belfast, on Thursday 6th September 2007.

In the first of what is hoped will become a regular event on the social calendar, Oxfam Ireland's inaugural Black Tie event is a fundraiser in advance of next year's party of 12 Oxfam supporters undertaking a 12 day trek to Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain at 19,000 ft, with the overall project aiming to raise £30,000 for Oxfam Ireland's overseas projects.

On what promises to be an unmissable evening, a drinks reception will be followed by a fabulous 5 course dinner, and a fantastic Auction and Raffle. The entertainment will include the one and only May McFettridge as MC and the much loved live band Otis and the Elevators will deliver soul and R&B classics.

There will be a number of great prizes in the raffle including a £500 holiday voucher, a laptop and a home entertainment system, while the highlight of the evening will be the auction, featuring fabulous items such as fabulous limited edition art prints by Neil Shawcross, as well as autographed sporting memorabilia such as:

  • an Ireland rugby top signed by the team;
  • a golf shirt signed by British Open Winner Padraig Harrington;
  • a Tour de France yellow jersey signed by Ireland's only ever winner Stephen Roche;
  • a day for 4 with the Renault Formula One team (a private tour of the Renault F1 Team Technical Centre with Technical Director Bob Bell, plus lunch and wine at the Enstone HQ, and a signed memento of your visit);
  • plus many more signed items and special spot prizes to be announced on the big night itself. Don't miss it!

And if you cannot wait for the auction to begin, you can even begin bidding right now! Call 028 9057 2896 or email peter.tomlinson [at] oxfamireland.org and leave your name, your bid and a contact number.

So if you would like to place a bid or take a table (£700 for a table of 10) or donate, please contact Peter Tomlinson on 028 9057 2896 or email peter.tomlinson [at] oxfamireland.org
