Oxfambooks announces its Poems for 2008 competition
Oxfam Ireland Press Release
08 June 2007
The Oxfambooks poetry calendar competition swings into life for it’s third year. We are looking for six new poets to be published along side our six guest poets.
This year our guest poets are Tony Curtis, Seamus Heaney, Jean O'Brien, Nessa O'Mahony, Mary O'Malley and Paul Perry (judge) .
Last year’s competition produced a calendar that also presented 12 original art works by artists represented by the Blue Leaf Gallery. The calendar sold out completely and raised over €7,000 for Oxfam Ireland’s work overseas including the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Darfur in Sudan. Oxfambooks Manager Christine Kostik says: “This year’s calendar will look even better. We hope to sell even more copies, and your poem could be part of it.”
Entries cost €5 per poem and the closing date for entries is July 31st 2007.
For a printed copy of the application form, and the rules please send an SAE to Oxfambooks, 23 Parliament St., Dublin 2.
