Give a little extra with Oxfam Ireland Unwrapped

November 2006

What do you buy the person who has it all?

Dinner for two? Chocolates? A toothbrush?

This year you can give all this, and more, with Oxfam Ireland Unwrapped!

The 2006 Unwrapped catalogue offers a wide range of innovative gift ideas designed to really make a difference. PLUS for the first time you can choose to add a 'little extra' - giving the recipient of your gift something to unwrap on their special day.

There are over 30 great gift ideas to choose from, including:

Dinner for two - Just €56 / £37 provides nutritious meals for two children orphaned by AIDS for a whole month.

Dignity kits - When natural disaster or conflict strike, thousands of people have to flee their homes with nothing. This gift of a few simple essentials (including toothbrushes, toilet roll, underwear and soap) can help them to preserve their dignity and stay healthy. (Cost - €9 / £6 for three people, €30 / £20 for three families.)

In fact, Oxfam has thought of everything, from Care for a Cow schemes, Oxfam buckets, condoms, school uniforms and loos, to the provision of safe drinking water for whole villages.

If you like the idea but are a little unsure of how your friends and family will react to receiving 'just a card'.fear not, you can now keep your excellent reputation intact! New this year are 'little extras' which can be physically wrapped up and presented with your gift card. Each Fair Trade 'little extra' is a tangible gift and linked to different gifts in the catalogue.

Little extras on offer: Fairtrade Mango Divine Chocolates (€7.50 / £5), Fair Trade Oxfamgarden seeds (four pack €7.50 / £5), Fair Trade cow spinning tops (€4.50 / £2.50), Fair Trade twig pencils (three for €4.50 / £2.50) and Fair Trade tea towels (€6.50 / £3.50).

If you're buying for a devoted gardener what could be better than teaming a crop kit of seeds, tools and training with Oxfamgarden seeds? Or, if you have a teacher in mind, why not buy them some Fair Trade twig pencils to go with your gift of a school uniform for a child orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Tanzania? It's so easy to give a little extra with Oxfam Ireland Unwrapped!
