Goats and more go back on the shopping list!

Oxfam Unwrapped was a huge success last Christmas, when goats and buckets became some of the season’s 'must have' presents.

And now the Oxfam Unwrapped catalogue and vouchers provides the public with a fresh opportunity to buy unusual but practical gifts that are a genuine alternative for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and upcoming special occasions like Father's Day on 19th June.

Oxfam UnwrappedBuying a gift is simple: Choose the voucher for the 'gift' of your choice from the Oxfam Unwrapped Catalogue (available in Oxfam shops around the country) or from www.oxfamirelandunwrapped.com. Pay for the voucher in our shops, online or by phone. Then you can send the voucher to your chosen recipient. The voucher explains that a gift has been bought for them but given to 'someone who needs it more'. Oxfam Ireland will use the funds from each “gift” sale to purchase that item or service - or the nearest equivalent - in poor countries throughout the world.

"The Oxfam Unwrapped gift vouchers are designed to be an innovative, informative and fun way to support us," said Siobhan McGrath - Oxfam Irelands Fundraising Co ordinator. "People have real difficulties knowing what to buy as presents these days, so why not give something of real value to someone who needs it and help people to work their way out of poverty ?"

The catalogue offers a total of 15 gift ideas, ranging from mosquito nets to protect children from malaria (€12/£8) to classrooms that mean more children can receive an education (€2,460/£1,640). It also features items that are used in our emergency work such as the recent Tsunami: Buckets to carry clean water (€25/£16), emergency shelters for families (€45/£30) and longer-term rehabilitation items such as seeds and tools (€36/£24) and basic medicines (€300/£200)

Oxfam sources the majority of items locally, according to the needs of the community and to keep the wheels of local economies turning.

Aside from buying vouchers in-store or at www.oxfamirelandunwrapped.com, you can also phone in the Republic 1890 60 60 65 and in Northern Ireland 0845 30 30 337 or order via the catalogue's postal order form.
