Oxfam Media Planning Calendar: August – September 2011
AUGUST
Currently:
Oxfam Ireland has launched an emergency appeal for East Africa as Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia are facing the worst drought in 60 years. This is now the region’s worst food crisis of the 21st century: with areas of Somalia now experiencing famine conditions, the first in the region in the 21st century and the first time that famine has been declared in this region since at least 1992, with Kenya in a pre-famine situation.
Around 12 million people face starvation as a result of severe shortages of food and water. Oxfam is well placed to respond to the crisis as we are already working in all three countries. Oxfam is looking to scale up to reach more than 3 million people in total over the coming months.
