Calling all Volunteer Knitters!

We have a selection of knitting patterns which are available free to supporters who wish to make items for Oxfam to sell.

The Wool

Knit for Oxfam It can be expensive to buy all new wool to make these garments so all the patterns can be made from yarn left over from other projects. We welcome a range of colours so that every item is different and unique.

In support of our knit for Oxfam campaign Oxfam Ireland is delighted to receive a donation of yarn from Craftspun Yarns of Johnstown, Co. Kildare. The yarn is a 50% Pima Cotton and 50% Silk double knitting yarn on 50g balls.

This is available to purchase through Oxfam Georges St, Dublin 2 or Oxfam Lower Georges St, Dun Laoghaire for €2 (normal retail price is €5) whilst stocks last – all proceeds to Oxfam Ireland. Alternatively you can purchase form Craftspun Yarns at The Old Mill in Johnstown nr Naas Co Kildare (T 045 876881) and again all proceeds to Oxfam Ireland .

The finished items can then be donated to your local Oxfam shop to be sold to raise money to help change peoples lives.

The Pricing

The shop team will price your item for sale and the price will reflect the fact that these are hand made items and will complement the other clothing in the shop. The better the finish on the items the more the shop can charge for them.

Which pattern?

Knit for Oxfam The shop team may know that some items are selling very well and ask if you would consider knitting that item. If you would rather knit another item that’s fine – your piece will be welcomed.

If you do not see your item for sale immediately, don’t worry! Shops often save a number of items for promotions rather than sell them one by one. Many will sell at Christmas or when there is a particularly cold snap.
