The world produces enough food for everyone, but not everyone has enough food.
Hunger is the greatest scandal of our age. It kills more people than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. Two million children die each year because of malnutrition.
That’s why Oxfam and 80 other organisations have joined together as part of the IF campaign to make sure everyone has enough food to live. Together, we’ll be too loud for our governments to ignore.
Ireland holds the EU Presidency in the first half of 2013 and in June, world leaders come to Fermanagh for the G8 Summit. Decisions made on this island this year can mark the beginning of the end for the global hunger crisis.
But only IF we act together and make our leaders tackle four big IFs:
- IF we stop poor farmers being forced off their land and we grow crops to feed people not fuel cars.
- IF governments and big companies are honest and open about some of the things that stop people getting enough food.
- IF we give enough aid to stop children dying from hunger and help the poorest families get enough food.
- IF we stop big companies dodging taxes in poor countries.
Together we can make our leaders take notice and act to begin to end hunger. Join the campaign now to add your voice.
