A few hours a week can be a journey into something different and rewarding.
People are inspired to work for Oxfam to:
- share that special interest or skill
- meet new and interesting people
- feel part of a successful team
- become part of a global movement of people who want to overcome the injustice of poverty and suffering.
Different people are motivated to work for Oxfam for different reasons:
- Students – course placement or work experience
- Between jobs – a couple of months to spare before starting a new job
- Retirement – making good use of years of expertise
- Special interest/skill – which can make a valuable contribution to Oxfam’s work
- Spare time – a few hours a week to get involved in something different and rewarding
Think about it: every four hours of volunteering with Oxfam will pay for seeds for two families in Malawi to grow enough food for a year, or pay for vaccines to immunize 12 children living in a refugee camp in Darfur.
