Six months ago Oxfam launched our biggest ever Africa appeal in response to the drought t in East Africa. Thanks to your generous response the public all over the world donated around $32 million to Oxfam. This response has saved countless lives and Oxfam continues to provide emergency and long-term support to nearly 3 million affected people across the region, helping them recover and cope with future droughts.
The crisis is one of the worst we have faced in many years – over 13 million people have been affected, thousands have died, and many families have lost their livelihoods. The situation remains extremely concerning, especially in Somalia. However, your help has gone a very long way. Thank you

The third annual Oxfam Ireland TRAILTREKKER event attracted more than 400 participants to set off from Donard Park in Newcastle early on Saturday 10th September at the start of one of the most gruelling charity endurance challenges. Each team had a single goal – to complete the epic 100km or alternative 50km route and reach the finishing line at Carlingford Sailing Club inside 36 or 20 hours.
Battling the weather to walk by day and by night through the Mournes, the Ring of Gullion and the Cooley Peninsula, a team called the Dromintee 4 were the 100km winners in a record time of 15 hours and 39 minutes. Consisting of local men Ciaran McMullan, Jude Hayes, Dermot Winters and Kevin Murray, the Dromintee 4 completed the trek to arrive in Carlingford just shy of Saturday midnight after setting out from Newcastle at 8.00am that morning.
Oxfam Ireland has raised €1.2 million for our emergency appeal thus far, through shops North and South and through a nationwide advertising campaign in July and August.
The response from the public has been really amazing and it’s been a busy few months with events such as football matches, Croagh Patrick climbs, pub quizzes, cake sales and supermarket bag packs taking place in various parts of the country

Oxfam Ireland’s amazing annual raffle has kicked off once again, and the prizes are better than ever. You could win a fantastic holiday in Florida, a widescreen TV, an iPad, or the cash equivalent of any of these prizes!
We’re asking you, our loyal supporters, to help us out by spreading the word and selling tickets to your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues. There are prizes and incentives for sellers, and best of all, the tickets that you sell will help some of the poorest people in the world.
Six tickets can provide school books for a child for an entire year.
Ten tickets can feed a family in areas where food insecurity is at crisis levels or provide clean safe drinking water.
