Title of role : Volunteer Warehouse Operative

Location : Belfast Warehouse, 115 North Street, Belfast, BT1 1ND

Reporting to: Stock Sourcing Manager

Hours/days: Flexible hours to suit your commitments.

The Warehouse is open Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm and 9am to 1pm on a Friday

What work will I be doing as a volunteer?

Provide operational support to the warehouse team and Stock Sourcing Manager including:

Sorting, de-tagging and hanging stock.
Picking, packing and dispatching orders for shops.
Bringing in, checking and packing away deliveries.
Maintaining paperwork for goods in/out including courier manifests and dispatch notes.
Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

What experience, skills, interests or attributes will I need to do this volunteer role?

Previous warehousing experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

Some or all of the following would also be an advantage:

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Good numeracy and literacy skills.
Ability to plan and organise workload and a good team player.
Physically fit and capable of lifting and moving boxes/bags up to 30kgs in weight.
A hard working and enthusiastic attitude
Knowledge of Health & Safety and Manual handling procedures

About Retail

Oxfam Ireland has 49 shops throughout the island of Ireland and as market leaders in the charity retail sector we are keen to expand our network increasing the money raised to fund our development programs overseas.

Support for this role will be provided by the Stock Sourcing Manager, based in the Belfast office where the warehouse is also located.

Our warehouse is a core element of our retail network. We regularly receive donations from corporate clients both locally and across Europe. The donations are delivered into our warehouse where the delivery is broken down according to range, size, colour etc. This stock is then de-tagged (branding removed), picked, packed and shipped to our shops across the island where it can be sold to raise vital funds for our programme work.

Oxfam’s shop in Phibsboro, North Dublin, needs volunteers

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers who will donate four hours per week of their time to sort and price clothes, bric-a-brac, books and music, operate the till or arrange our displays, to make the shop a friendly and welcoming place for customers.

Full training will be given, so either pop into the shop at 67 Phibsboro Road and pick up an application form, or ring 01-830 9550 and speak to Aine.
