Blanaid Hennessy and her Shutterbug team, Ciúin Tracey, Mary Kate Lanagan, Síomha Connolly and Laura Hughes recently created visual displays in Oxfamhome’s new store on Kings Inn Street in Dublin to showcase the wide selection of furniture and homeware on sale in the store. Blanaid Hennessy also sourced clothes from Oxfam shops and styled a live shoot that was featured on TV3’s Xposé.

Best-selling author Kate Kerrigan recently opened Cork’s first ever Oxfambooks shop at 18A French Church, Street, Cork.
Lucky customers on the day heard Kate read from her new book ‘City of Hope’ to mark the official opening.
Kate said: “I’ve always been a supporter of Oxfam’s and I am thrilled to be part of the first ever Oxfambooks shop in Cork. Book shops are special places but Oxfambooks is extra special because every purchase means a positive change in the life of someone who really needs it overseas. If you spend just €10 in an Oxfam bookshop, Oxfam can buy six buckets to help families get access to water.”
Oxfam Ireland Christmas Cards are now available in the Republic of Ireland from Oxfam stores as well as good stationers and bookshops.
Christmas is the time to stay (or get back!) in touch with family and friends both near and far. And what better way to do that than with an Oxfam Ireland Christmas card. Our cards are a key source of funds, raising over €70,000 for our important work overseas – all the more necessary this year with the food crisis in East Africa, including famine in Somalia.
We have a wide range of exclusive designs on our cards, enough to suit everyone on your list – from religious or cute to traditional or modern. And our cards are printed on the highest quality FSC-certified part-recycled board, and come with 100% recycled envelopes. Cards are available in cello packs (8 cards of 1 design) or boxes (20 cards, 10 each of 2 designs) and prices start at only €.175 per card!
Oxfam Ireland Christmas cards also have an impact here at home, as we print and pack our cards in Ireland, helping secure Irish jobs.
This is an opportunity to gain skills in a fashion retail environment. Your time will also help raise money for the work Oxfam does overseas. If you have 4 hours a week and want to support Oxfam’s work please contact Bart at 427 5490.
Oxfam Ireland has launched a new campaign called Make Space for Oxfam to highlight Oxfam’s shops urgent need for donations. Over the past year donations to Oxfam shops have reduced by up to 40% and stock levels are now critical in many shops.
Musician Sharon Corr and broadcasters Miriam O’Callaghan and Tom Dunne have teamed up with Oxfam to support the campaign and they each have donated an item that means something special to them. The Make Space for Oxfam campaign asks the public to donate items to Oxfam that are taking up space in people’s wardrobes, shelves and homes.
Oxfam Ireland has raised €1.2 million for our emergency appeal thus far, through shops North and South and through a nationwide advertising campaign in July and August.
The response from the public has been really amazing and it’s been a busy few months with events such as football matches, Croagh Patrick climbs, pub quizzes, cake sales and supermarket bag packs taking place in various parts of the country
Loads of new items have just been added to the Fair Trade 50% off sale – check out your closest shop now (Dublin, Belfast, Galway or Cork) for the best selection. Check out just some of the items now reduced:
Fashion icon Twiggy is calling on Marks & Spencer customers to support Oxfam Ireland by clearing out their wardrobes this week.
On Thursday 8th September, M&S stores up and down the country will be hosting a special One Day Wardrobe Clearout event, accepting unwanted clothing and accessories that will be resold or recycled by Oxfam Ireland. The event will help Oxfam raise crucial funds and prevent clothing from going to landfill.
The national campaign has the backing of the face of M&S Woman and international icon Twiggy, who is encouraging customers to get involved. Twiggy commented: “We’re all guilty of hoarding clothes away that we no longer wear. This is a great way to rediscover those hidden treasures at the back of your wardrobe and donate any unwanted or unused pieces to Oxfam.”
